We are still open (every Friday eve) and serving local youth sporting enthusiasts, but our staff availability may limit the scope of our operations for the next few weeks. Thank you for your understanding.
We are grateful to the San Leandro Junior Club members who participated in our May 17th trash cleanup community service project. We had a good turnout, and the extra hands helped make the nearby Oyster Bay shoreline recreational area more pleasing for all to enjoy.
Our next Junior Club trash cleanup event will take place on Saturday, July 20th, 2019 at 9 am at the San Lorenzo Pioneer Cemetary. Anyone aged 14-years or older is welcome to participate.
All Junior Club members are encouraged to participate in School Beautification Day on Saturday, October 25th. If you are interested in helping out, please coordinate directly with our Jr. Club officers so we’re not flooding Ms. Bailey with questions and requests.
Saturday, October 25th is National Make a Difference Day. In San Leandro, it’s School Beautification Day. All across San Leandro, parents, students, school administrators and other members of our community will prepare for the morning’s work; they’ll pull on their overalls and get out their paint brushes, their knee pads and gardening tools, and their work gloves and rakes to spruce up San Leandro’s schools both inside and out.
SLED (the San Leandro Education Foundation) and the San Leandro Unified School District want you and your staff to be among those volunteers. Each elementary school needs a critical mass of 20, and could use 20 more. The larger middle schools and high schools need 40 for that critical mass. If you could just adopt one school, it could mean the difference between failure and success for them. Provide lunch and you’ll draw a crowd.
This is a great opportunity for you to broaden awareness, throughout the City, of the Optimists and its mission. It’s also a chance for team building. There’s nothing like accomplishing a goal together for building or rebuilding a team; establishing new bonds; and reminding your members of what they can accomplish together once1ua.
When students arrive back at school on Monday, they’ll see that their community cares about them, supports them, and values their work and achievements. Every teacher will tell you that their spirits are lifted and their school performance improves.
And when the daffodils and tulips we plant together in October bloom in early spring, each student will get another lift, just in time for that final test.
Your Club members get a reminder of that great fall day when they had so much fun accomplishing something important.
Please contact me by email or by phone at the number below so we can discuss. I’ll also follow up soon.

Again, do NOT go to Fremont High School for the meeting. A sign will be on the street directing you to the meeting location.
Please pardon our dust as we continue to build-out the new home of the San Leandro Junior Optimist Rifle Club.
