Club Info

The San Leandro Junior Optimist Rifle Club is open to youth aged 12 to 20.

Interested individuals are welcome to visit the Club and receive a no-obligation introduction to our program.

Our Club meets every Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the San Leandro Rifle & Pistol Range.

We ask that first-timers arrive at 7 p.m. for orientation.

The Club provides all necessary gear - no personal equipment is required.

Prerequisites for participation:

• Download/view the required permission form (PDF)

• Youth participants must memorize and demonstrate the fundamental rules of safe gun handling (PDF) before beginning our program.

Included with Jr. Club membership:

• Safety orientation and continued testing

• Firearm instruction by NRA-certified instructors

• Use of Club equipment, including:

  • Precision target rifles

  • Shooting jackets/gloves

  • Eye and ear protection

  • Shooting mats

  • Kneeling rolls

  • Targets/Ammunition

• NRA-recognized scoring and recording of the shooter's progress

Per session fee:

• $10  for non-members

• $5 for Club members

  • Annual membership dues are $50
