Purpose
The San Leandro Junior Optimist Rifle Club is open to youth 12 to 20. It aims to develop sportsmanship, discipline, and citizenship through safe participation in shooting sports and involvement in community service and fundraising events.
Members are taught how to safely handle and fire smallbore air and cartridge rifles following the National Rifle Association (NRA) courses.
A parent or guardian must sign a permission slip to participate in the Club. New Members are required to pass tests emphasizing safety.
The Club is affiliated with the NRA and Junior Optimist International – an international community service organization helping youth to develop leadership abilities and encouraging responsibility.
The San Leandro Junior Optimist Rifle Club meets most Wednesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the San Leandro Rifle and Pistol Range on Davis Street in San Leandro. The classroom and indoor range are reserved exclusively for the Junior Club during this time.
We ask that first-timers arrive at 7 p.m. for orientation.
